Taking the first steps in your journey
The Therapy Process
What sort of counsellor are you?
I believe that counselling is a vocation, and it is very personal to me. I work with clients to find a time and day that enables me to give appropriate space and resources to try and suit their individual needs..
It is never “too late”.
I believe in the ethics and responsibilities of my profession and try and live by this every day.
Counselling is like a partnership – working together to achieve the outcomes the client wants
What modalities do you use?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Humanistic Therapy
Attachment based therapy
An understanding of internal family systems therapy and transactional analysis therapy
Affiliation
I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), ensuring professional and ethical standards are upheld in all my counselling and coaching services.
Practical logistics
Will my sessions be confidential?
Confidentiality and informed consent are foundations of therapy.
In some situations, as required by law or where there is an identified risk of harm to you or someone else, counsellors have mandatory reporting obligations. These obligations are within the NZAC Code of Ethics, Privacy Act, and other legislation.
I will work hard to balance confidentiality and my obligation to ensure your safety. As far as possible, I will collaborate with you should steps need to be taken.
What is the cost and length of each session?
Individual sessions are between 50 - 60 minutes long and cost $130 + GST ($149.50) per session.
Payments are due on or before the day of each session.
Can I get funded sessions?
I am contracted to Southern Cross, Mahitahi Hauora, Clearhead and Gumboot Friday.
If you or your employer has a connection with any one of these organisations, there is potential to get a limited number of fully funded sessions.
Cancellation policy
When you book an appointment, that time is reserved for you and is not available to others.
Please give at least 48 hours when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
For sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (or non attendance at the session) the full fee will be charged.
Still got questions?
Not a crisis service
Beacon Counselling does not provide a crisis intervention service.
If you are concerned for your own or any other person’s safety, please contact emergency services by dialling 111.
